2020- Clearing the Vision

Bet you didn’t expect to hear from me.

Well happy 2020,

I hope this time apart has brought you as much clarity as it did for me.

I owe an explanation to you all, the kindest of souls! My heart was full with the amount of you whom felt the need to reach out through email and DM.

The darkness that began to enter into my once happy blog began to feel almost suffocating. My world was no longer positive, blogging began to feel like a chore. For hours I would brainstorm different strategies of how to hold onto the increasing attention my blog and Pinterest account was receiving.

It consumed and scared me.

One day I just stopped.

I felt a level of disappointment in myself for becoming so consumed by numbers, I needed time to remember why I began my account.

I’m done looking at the viewership, likes and comments.

I’m here for you…. and well me too!

This little blog started as a way to track my personal progress and to document all my thoughts as well as to read yours.

Forgive the lack of working widgets on my blog currently, it’s going to take some time to get back to full working order. Don’t be alarmed if there are a few tweaks to my page too!

If you want to have a looksy at my instagram the link is the big logo icon at the bottom of the page!

All my love,

Stopping to breath

So it’s been a minute huh?

First of all, thank you and thank you again for giving me a minute to drop off the face of the earth and come back to you.

Life is pretty rough right now and I don’t feel motivated to write to you guys when i’m barely making it through the days.

I hope you guys are able to understand what I mean when I say that.

Being positive and uplifting isn’t super easy when your heart is heavy.

This website isn’t to bring people down, it’s my space to be creative and positive! I don’t want to come back and read posts about how dark right now is, I want to forget that in the future.

I’m in Sydney this weekend so hopefully I can get some happy content to you!

All my love,

Coachella -Arichella period

So you know what’s coming.

The queen performed, and I still just can’t and won’t stop raving!

Ariana Grande can do no wrong, in my eyes. Ariana is a leader of power and inspiration for all young women.

Ariana first touched my heart just like many of you back when she began on ‘Victorious’, from there I have been a loyal and loving fan. I’ve been there through her breakout solo career to entering into a whole new realm of artistry.

Now for those of you that don’t know my family is from Manchester and I for many years lived there. I have so much love for the city, that I got my first tattoo in dedication to it. See my post ‘ 2019 Rundown’ for a little peak at it.

So when the Manchester attack happened my love for her grew even more, it’s kind of odd to feel such a personal connection to an artist.

I don’t know why but I feel so in-tuned with the messages her songs have.

But enough about my girl crush lets breakdown that epic performance!!

The outfits!

The show as to be expected was a showstopper! the outfits breath taking and were festival envy chic, i’ve highlighted my top two below!

First up, this outfit caught my eye due to the perfect colour choice that intentionally complemented the theme of her 2018 album ‘Sweetener’.

lilac is hands down the colour of 2019 and I couldn’t be more about it!

Styling this look in very Ari style with the slick back ponytail and knee-high boots, I am absolutely in love with how true to her vibe it is.

As a side note, Ari took part in a tribute to ex-boyfriend Mac Miller while in this outfit. Leaving her looking appropriate angelic for the occasion. The crowd held up peace signs as a sign of love and unity while remembering the rappers and artists lost this past year.

It was a beautiful moment of light in a dark time and gave us chills across the world.

The next outfit I want to discuss is one is by far my favourite… maybe even of all time. I’m a sucker for the sparkle! This outfit fits both the Coachella vibe as well as the show’s! The high boots continued just adding to the ability to let Ari be true to her style, while shining both inside and out! The detailing is insane, leaving many of us anxiously waiting for the arrival of copy- cat designs on ‘Missguided’ I’m sure.

Now that I’ve gone lo-co over the outfits time for me to wrap things up!

The event had so many incredible features, from the graphics to the song choices. Even going as far as to bring back old favourites like ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Dangerous Woman‘ she could do no wrong. Ari even went full Kanye naming the festival Arichella with full merch available.

Oh and on that note, the merch tent had a ‘7 RINGS ARCHWAY!!! I’ll leave a pic below for you to go as insane as I did!

One last thing … she performed with N- SYNC!

We’ll that’s it from me for now on the incredibleness of Coachella.

I mean Arichella!

Let me know your thoughts!

How im going to get a job at Vogue

Weird title I know.

So I am sorry, it’s been a minute since i’ve sat down with you.

Currently, I’m on my two week break from university.

Between working and studying full time it feels like for the first time I can breathe.

This year has been one of a lot of self discovery. Every day I find another question plays on my mind or I feel an urge to do something new, kinda starting to feel like a quarter-life crisis is coming on.

One thing I have found consistent through it all is my two major goals for 2019.

I want to begin writing and I want to move out. Both seem to be moving forward.

So guys, I’ve decided my career goal and drive forward will be

To work at Vogue.

Remember back in January’s post ‘January wrapped up’ where I was so beyond sure I had found what I wanted. I guess that dream has just continued to grow.

Now, i’m not one to not practice what I preach so here I am giving you a few updates on what i’ve done to develop my career goals.

Last week, I put my name forward to intern at Sydney’s Australian Fashion Week!

I’m anxiously awaiting the news of whether I have got it or not!

I have also applied for a Bachelor of Journalism as my current degree will be finished at the end of this year! Yikes another three years of study ahead.

Here is my mini list of goals I have set myself:

  • Get an internship at a fashion magazine
  • Published article in a major publication
  • Move to Melbourne
  • Travel the world and get inspired
  • Have my own office space at my new home
  • Work at Vogue!

So there we have it folks, I feel it’s important for me to document these little milstones and thoughts so hopefully one day looking out of my glass walled office in New York I can say,

“I bloody did it!”

Tell me what your goals are?

Fashion Nova – It’s time to review

Hi Lovers,

It’s been a few days but I’m back!!

‘Fashion Nova’ for those that haven’t yet come across the site, is a fast fashion online store. The girl boss website is marketed at those with curves for days and envy the fashion trends of the Kardashians. Speaking as someone who due to my 5,3 build and hourglass figure struggles to find jeans that fit, I can safely say that ‘FashionNova.com’ is a Godsend!

I have shopped on ‘Fashion Nova’ a few times now and find that although it can be hit or miss.

9 times out of 10 it’s a hit!

I feel with these kinds of sites it is always better to have no expectations and then be pleasantly surprised.

I mean look at these shoes!!

I always find with fast fashion websites, stick to your basics like cute tops, accessories – things that generally should fit and then maybe order one pair of pants to suss the sizing.

Living in Australia the shipping situation is rarely amazing, my orders taking approximately 10 days to arrive.

But then again, we aren’t buying channel now are we?

Below i’ve left two more of my favourite pieces that are currently on site with links, let me know your own review on this company!

For just $29.99 USD

Happy shopping!!

A day in the life of a Fashion Blogger Collaboration -Slovakian Edition

Hey Lovers,

So yesterday I introduced you to blogger royalty Nat in my interview ‘Sitting down with Blogger royalty Renegadex7!

If you haven’t had a chance to meet her yet, she’s pretty incredible! With a following of over 10,000 on WordPress alone, she is a force to be reckoned with. Nat has moved over to ‘WordPress’ recently after years of running her ‘Tumblr’ blog with incredible success. Through fashion, reviews and absolute raw talent, she is an inspiration to all writers and one to watch!

Today I have the pleasure of having her guest write on my blog, so read below to see what a ‘Day in the life of a Slovakian blogger’ is really like! If you’d like to see my ‘Day in the life of an Australian blogger’ jump over to Nat’s website renegadex7.com when you’re done exploring this one!

Don’t forget to subscribe to her incredible blog so not to miss a post!

A day in the life of a Fashion Blogger Collaboration – Slovakian Edition

Hey. Let’s take a look at how does one day in a fashion blogger looks like. In regards to my previous article titled Fashion Sucks where I shared a complicated topic of fashion blogger let me explore the issue further.

There is endless meaning behind the term. Endless possibilities that even thought might not support your image of fashion blogger it simply can’t deny it either.

Being fashion blogger for me means you have this one interest and you’re dedicated to it on different levels. One day all you can think about is the next outfit you’re going to compose. The next one you don’t give a tiniest crap about what you’re wearing or about what anyone is wearing. The other day you’re mad about fast fashion industry creating devastating effect on environment and the next one you’re neck-deep in discounted clothes.

Being a fashion blogger for me means being on a rollercoaster that leads to true content. No matter what the most important feature for me is feeling good in whatever I’m wearing. One day I feel right in simple jeans and shirt and the other I thrive for people turning heads over my outfit.

Finding a middle zone to describe just one day in a life of a fashion blogger turns out to be harder than I imagined it would be. It’s like I’m split.  There is a version of me that has this incredible ideas in her head that could fill out fashion week. There is a version of me feeling guilty for her materialistic consumptions site and there is me begging me to just chill.

Here is how my usual fashion blogger day looks like:

I wake up early for work. It takes me around one hour to complete my morning routine that considers of thorough cleanup of my face, putting my make up on, having breakfast, regular blog updates and email check and what I’m focusing on in this article – choosing my outfit for the day. If you’re expecting some deeper decision-making I’m gonna disappoint you. I’m literally going by “it’s on the top and it’s the first thing that caught my attention”. How sad.  The reason why I never bothered to focus on my morning clothing routine is because I know than in 15 minutes I’ll be changing again. I still want to look nice for that 15 minutes but more importantly I want to be comfortable for those 15 minutes when I’m traveling to work.

I work as a pharmacist assistant in Pragues pharmacy. First thing I do when I come to work is I change to my work clothes which considers of white pants, white shirt, white socks and white shoes. How creative. I spend eight hours a day in white. I bet that’s not how you imagined a fashion blogger would look like. BUT.

Everyday I have my own fashion show as I get to watch thousands of patients walk in my pharmacy and I get to silently judge their outfits as much as I please. It helps me grow a perspective. Prague’s ladies wears a lot of crazy outfits. I’m enjoying the varieties of styles everyday even thought I’m not precipitating myself. Tha’t the fashion blogger I am during my work hours.

The other part of my day is dedicated to my secret fashion life much more. After work is my website work time that goes on till the morning.

On my ride home I’m already checking for news. Instagram is my ultimate source. Having my favourite brands, bloggers and vloggers, fashion icons in one place makes my research much easier. Fashion bloggers this days are gifted with updates from literally everyone. You know what’s going on right away and that’s both blessing and course of this age. You either catch on new trend right away or 3 day passes and you’re out and you hope to catch the next one that’s coming in like few minutes. So you got to pick your battles. You simply can’t catch them all.

So I check out what’s up. What my favourite brands are up to and I’m already brainstorming how to present my research forward with my touch. The minute I get home I’m switching to blogger mode. I have a short time to make a dinner and change to sweatpants. You have to love my outfits.

I’m researching, creating outfits, editing photographs from my good fashion days, checking for best deals, communicating with partnered websites and most importantly writing it all down. That part of my days gives me true satisfaction and pride in calling myself a fashion blogger. The results of my daily fashion brainstorm are up on my website.

Everyone’s definition of fashion blogger is different just as the days in fashion bloggers lives are. This is a collaboration of two fashion bloggers from other sites of the world. We hope you enjoyed them both.

Head to www.renegade7x.com to read ‘A day in the life of a Fashion Blogger – Australian Edition’ and of course more from Natalia!

Sitting down with blogger royalty www.renegade7x.com

Hey Lovers,

Today I have something to share that has been in the works for a while now!

Drum roll please….

For those of you that don’t belong to her over 10,000 strong subscribers’ viewership on WordPress alone, Natalia is the writer behind http://renegade7x.com/

If you love fashion, travel, uncut realness and some pretty awesome reviews…. well Nat is the girl for you.

I have had the pleasure of creating some exciting content with this writing inspiration myself!

I have spent the last few weeks speaking with this blogging Queen and asked if  I could interview her.

Nat has been kind enough to sit down and share her knowledge, thoughts and give us bloggers just a little sneak peek behind the curtain of renegade7x.com.

As many of you know, along with my fashion, travel and advice posts I love to write blogging tips. Having the opportunity to gain some insight from a well-established blogger and writer has been something I’m very grateful for.

Beginning on Tumblr over six years ago, Nat transferred to wordpress.com.  Humble with her success, Nat lives in one of the World’s fashion capitals Prague! I first came across Nat when I saw her post “2019 is the worst and it’s been just 12 days!” From there I was hooked, I have been eagerly awaiting each and every post since! I’m sure you’ll find so too!

Her realness, relatability and writing skills were and continue to be just so enticing. Nat is a writer few can compare to, she writes from the heart and is so engaging you can feel like she is talking directly to you over a coffee.

It’s funny to me that many bloggers are writers that engross you more than a book ever can. (Plus the bonus of getting to talk to them directly couldn’t be cooler.)

Bloggers helping and sharing with other bloggers is something that is incredibly special. This forum allows us to connect with other likeminded people. One thing that took me by surprise, is that so many of Nat’s responses were the same as my own. So, from one Australian blogger and one Slovakian blogger we thank you for being a part of our community. Please feel free to share your own responses below, we’d love to hear from you!

Here is our interview below:

1 – what’s something people don’t know about you?

When I was 2 years old me and my parents and grandma moved to New Jersey from Slovakia. My first english words were “grandma where’s my puppy?

2- How long have you been blogging?

I started in May 2013 out of pure boredom and curiosity. I created my tumblr blog and started exploring the blogger world. My blogs main topic changed so much over the years just as my interests changed. I created my WordPress blog to share more articulated articles about my life in 2018 – so really I’m still a blogger newbie.

3- When did and what made you gain a blog following?

I believe my tumblr blog got the biggest boost because of youtubers Dan and Phil (or Danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil back then) I shared small comments, edited some pictures and people from youtube fandom seemed to enjoy my stuff and I gained thousands of followers seemingly overnight.

About my renegade7x website I believe it was just few months after I started blogging on WordPress. I kept it real. I wrote stuff that was hard to type and the response I got was heartwarming. I wrote about my depression, anxiety, self harm, psychiatric sessions and I kept it as rough as reality was. So many people could relate but couldn’t voice it like I did and that’s what brought attention to my writing.

4- what’s your go to fashion piece in your wardrobe?

I have this one black and white knitted cardigan that I had for ages and it’s so stretched now but I just can’t let it go as it looks great with everything I own.

5- who’s your fashion icon?

Rihanna. She’s truly a fashion icon because of how she wears herself. People joke around that and item of clothing is ugly until Rihanna decides it’s not – and that’s just so true. She could put whatever on and still look fabulous because of her admirable level of confidence I aspire to have one day.

6- what’s one word to describe you?

7- what actress would play you in a movie?

I don’t want to sound too cocky but I’m gonna go with my celebrity crush Lily James. Love the shape of her.

8- where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I’m in my New Yorks apartment with this beautiful view over the city. I’m wearing silk pajamas and drinking coffee. My laptop is opened and my succesful website is on as I’m finishing my lattes article. I just published my book alongside with my new fashion line.Life is great. Everything I do now is in order to get that coffee in 10 years.

9- where do you want to travel next?

Switzerland. I have this scratch off map of the world and I have Europe pretty much traveled but I’m missing

Switzerland. Hope to fix that this year.

10- what’s your favourite blog topic?

It’s so natural for me to write reviews. It’s relaxing. But I find it more challenging to write something personal, some reflection. I love that feeling when I get new idea and I just have to pour it all down in one sitting and I get to publish it right away for world to see.

11- top tip to new bloggers?

Don’t focus on the numbers. I know it’s exciting to see your audience grow but don’t let it discourage you if the results are not according to your expectations. Take your time and focus on the content instead. Enjoy every struggling minute of writing

I hope you enjoyed today’s post as much as we loved creating it!

Special thank you to Nat for all her time and inspiration.

All my love,

How to be a Fashion Blogger

Hey Lovers,

So you want to become a fashion blogger huh?

Well here is my how to guide on how to get started.

First thing’s first, what is your drive?

This is going to be at the core of your blog, your motivation to keep going and your vision for the future. So think about it and then think a little harder again.

Mine is to grow my experience as a writer to one day work professionally and gain and understanding behind running a site.

This next point I know you know. FIND YOUR COMMUNITY – for more on this read my ‘Finding your blogging community’ article. You need to understand and produce for your audience and their needs. If 90% of your viewership lives in the UK, when a major event relating to the UK comes up, be sure to write about it.

Have an understanding of SEO and other techy things. Now yes, it’s a pain and takes time but there is no way your going to grow a community without understanding the importance of this. So, get googling and watching those YouTube videos.

Photos, photos and more photos. Get an understanding of aesthetics and how to enhance them. Look up some blogs and get inspo from them, see what’s working and what’s not ans build from there. As much as I love reading, blogs are a place to write but do require visual aids. Imagine reading about ‘New York Fashion Week’ and seeing no photos – that level of creativity is hard to visualise alone.

Lastly, to become a fashion blogger be sure to comment opinions on upcoming trends, fashion shows, celebrity Collab’s and share on ALL platforms of media in particular the hidden gem ‘Pinterest.’

All my love,

Aesthetically Basic –A millennials’ guide to life
