2020- Clearing the Vision

Bet you didn’t expect to hear from me.

Well happy 2020,

I hope this time apart has brought you as much clarity as it did for me.

I owe an explanation to you all, the kindest of souls! My heart was full with the amount of you whom felt the need to reach out through email and DM.

The darkness that began to enter into my once happy blog began to feel almost suffocating. My world was no longer positive, blogging began to feel like a chore. For hours I would brainstorm different strategies of how to hold onto the increasing attention my blog and Pinterest account was receiving.

It consumed and scared me.

One day I just stopped.

I felt a level of disappointment in myself for becoming so consumed by numbers, I needed time to remember why I began my account.

I’m done looking at the viewership, likes and comments.

I’m here for you…. and well me too!

This little blog started as a way to track my personal progress and to document all my thoughts as well as to read yours.

Forgive the lack of working widgets on my blog currently, it’s going to take some time to get back to full working order. Don’t be alarmed if there are a few tweaks to my page too!

If you want to have a looksy at my instagram the link is the big logo icon at the bottom of the page!

How to be a Fashion Blogger

Hey Lovers,

So you want to become a fashion blogger huh?

Well here is my how to guide on how to get started.

First thing’s first, what is your drive?

This is going to be at the core of your blog, your motivation to keep going and your vision for the future. So think about it and then think a little harder again.

Mine is to grow my experience as a writer to one day work professionally and gain and understanding behind running a site.

This next point I know you know. FIND YOUR COMMUNITY – for more on this read my ‘Finding your blogging community’ article. You need to understand and produce for your audience and their needs. If 90% of your viewership lives in the UK, when a major event relating to the UK comes up, be sure to write about it.

Have an understanding of SEO and other techy things. Now yes, it’s a pain and takes time but there is no way your going to grow a community without understanding the importance of this. So, get googling and watching those YouTube videos.

Photos, photos and more photos. Get an understanding of aesthetics and how to enhance them. Look up some blogs and get inspo from them, see what’s working and what’s not ans build from there. As much as I love reading, blogs are a place to write but do require visual aids. Imagine reading about ‘New York Fashion Week’ and seeing no photos – that level of creativity is hard to visualise alone.

Lastly, to become a fashion blogger be sure to comment opinions on upcoming trends, fashion shows, celebrity Collab’s and share on ALL platforms of media in particular the hidden gem ‘Pinterest.’

How to sell yourself as a Fashion Blogger

So you’re wondering why you aren’t cutting it with the bomb pictures you see the likes of Shani and Jaclyn are throwing out on the gram?

We’ll here are some super easy poses and tools to get you started!

  • Camera – especially those with Portrait mode
  • Confidence – Non – negotiable
  • Sunglasses – Instant coolness
  • A coffee cup – are we millennials if we aren’t fuelled by it?

Just kidding on a few of those guys! – Here are a few from my own account

Okay lets get down to it!

Pose like you know you’re a 10. Confidence can be seen through a photo so pose like you have a $100,000 sponsorship and it will come through in the photo.

Bright images are more aesthetically pleasing – the brighter and more colourful an image the more pleasing it is on the gram. Weird I know – we are creatures that like Aesthetically nice things – Well I mean read the name of the blog!

Now my final tip is actually the hack of all hacks – This is in no way uncovering any secrets or encouraging you to take part. The hack instagramers use is ‘Facetune’ – this app lets you enhance, brighten and alter an image. It has airbrush features that of course will give you that instagram glow but please use with caution and remeber ……… INSTAGRAM ISN’T REAL.

I hope this gave you a few ideas and insight into the instagram hacks our favs use!

Don’t forget to let me know your tips, tricks and of course don’t forget to follow for more content!

Love always,

Beauty – Faking it is okay… Okay?

Hey Lovers,

Today I want to address something.

NoW I totally understand things like botched and how extreme, that those people are fighting something alot stronger than their looks. But also that it’s okay because they choose that and it makes them happy. I find in this world of Instagram and ‘selfies’ we all feel pressure to conform and the idea of beauty is always changing.

10 years ago, ‘THIC‘ wasn’t as appealing as it is now, and my big bum wasn’t on show but rather hidden. The phrase “Does my bum look big in this?” being the most common one while shopping. Things change, nothing is permanent!

I am a self-confessed fake tanner, I tan because it makes me feel more confident. I find daily, people approaching me telling me I should stop. I’m always asked if my skin colour is real etc and the list goes on.

I felt the need this morning after yet another person saying this, to come on here and say it’s OKAY! How do we live in a world of Instagram, Facetune and people are being shunned for fake tanning?

I’m here to tell you, YOU do YOU! Want fake lashes? – Go get them and have some bomb ass eyes! You want to fake tan? – Well God damn you look like a summer Goddess hun. Whatever it is, be you and love it.

I’m sick of being picked on for liking myself, and I may have fake lashes, fake tan and try every instagram ad under the sun but my personality is as real as can be.

Be your beautiful self girls and boys and don’t change for anyone,

All my love,

How to keep yourself motivated to blog for beginners

Hey lovers,

Today I’m going to hand out some real advice on blogging.

Now I personally totally get how disappointing it is to put all your energy into coming up with a kick ass post and then receiving low engagement.

I figured I would post an article and give out some of my own advice after reading so much of others!

First up, I know first hand how much it sucks to get the advice – iT TAKES TIME. Which yes, it’s true but also I’ve been blogging for two years with slow growth. I get it, it sucks. But what turned my view was, the realisation I blog for ME. I am here because it’s my thing, I love having people read my content and I love having a record of my thoughts. If I go back through my posts I can read back on some pretty significant moments, and the feelings i had in the moment. These posts detail breakups, adventures, new and old friendships and so much more. So again, I’m here for ME. I think that’s key.

Another piece of advice that I think helps is remembering to commit. Blogging is a unique hobby, it involves a-lot of time and energy. Quite frankly, if you don’t love it you won’t last. To gain followers, a good flow and grow your blog you have to show your readers you’re here for the long haul. To do this I suggest following a similar process to me. I set aside one or two afternoons a week where I write all my content and then schedule it for the coming days, I work on one post a day.

My final tip for now is, look at your locations! If 90% of your views are from the USA focus on scheduling posts that are most suited to their time. I generally post to UK time as they are my largest viewership. This works super well and helps for your post not to get lost in the sea of wordpress.

Now I won’t ramble on because if you’re anything like me you’ll want to get started!

Let me know how you go,

All my love,

2019 Rundown

]

Hello Lovers,

How are we liking the new set up? My goal was to step it up for the new year! I know it’s way better on desktop so if that’s an option go for that!

Sadly, I’m back in the stifling heat of Australia rather than the brisk weather of my beloved U.K. But all good things must come to an end so time to get back out in the sun hey? Lets get that tanning oil out and bake.

A trip I’ll always remember, full of first experiences, new cultures, rebellious adventures and family. Keeping in mind my multiple sick days that at times left me bedridden but in whole was imperfectly perfect. We did actually video parts of the trip so fingers crossed when that is edited I’ll post it on here in case you’re interested.

2019 – What’s in store!

I have decided to tell a few funny stories from my travels in a series I’m calling an ‘Basically Abroad’  for that stay tuned!

In other news I’ll also be posting some of my best tips and tricks from keeping panic attacks under control to my low calorie diet plans, even how to keep your space at home aesthetically basic!

They’ll be lots of fresh, new and frequent posts coming your way so don’t forget to subscribe to the mailing lists to be the first to read it all!

l’amour from Paris

Hello Lovers,

Wishing you a wonderful day where ever you are residing in the world.

Sitting at a cafe in Paris is in many respects is just as good as climbing the Eiffel Tower. You come to feel the ambience of ‘The City of Love’, you come to be effortlessly chic and to watch as those so accustomed to this life go about their day.

Coming to Paris I’ve experienced the culture, seen beautiful marble and gold buildings surrounding the city and pretended I’m Miranda from ‘Devil Wears Prada’, such a movie buff.

As I sit here looking at the world pass me by; I’m intrigued, the people that pass me are elegant, glamorous and perfectly Parisian.

I am undoubtedly a tourist with my mustard scarf and Tumblr glasses on, if it isn’t black you simply aren’t dressing like a Parisian.

Tonight’s menu consists of frog legs and snails, an initiation?

Paris I adore you,

Merci for letting me see a little slice of heaven

The year of what the hell is going on???

Hello Lovers,

Well, obviously you are here to read yet another ” New year new me” post. I enjoyed new years, ironically I was sick as hell and couldn’t stay up past six because my flu took over!

However, this time last year I sat in the car with my boyfriend driving in the country and mentioned how cool it would be to spend new years in Europe and guess what? This year I did. Might not have been my ideal situation but hey I smashed that new year’s resolution!

This years resolution you ask… I can feel you’re on the edge of your seat.

This year I am going to just live – I’m going to stop pressuring myself to look for what might go wrong and be.

So far this is in full swing- I pushed myself away from my usual stance on certain things I may usually be against while in Amsterdam *hint hint* I’m sure you can figure out that one yourself.

And now I’m getting a tattoo i’ve been wanting for a few months now

I guess the main thing I’m going to decided is whether to follow my passion of writing and leave my course at university to follow a different career path.

I can’t say I know what this year holds but i’m excited to find out

Ciao x

Confessions of a traveling fashion queen

Hello my lovers,

Let us discuss the world-wide epidemic of over packing. Take a seat, grab a glass of wine and let’s dive into that suitcase you’re staring at.

The struggle of packing for amazing countries that are widely considered fashion capitals is a lot of pressure. To be fashionable and well prepared for any occasion is absolutely caused me some anxiety from time to time so let me assist you with my top three travelling tips!

  1. Pack black and a splash– black is a staple, this colour will save you. I always store at least five black tops in a suitcase. Generally, I go with one long sleeve and short bodysuit, two t-shirts and one woolly black top.

Wondering what that splash is? Well, a splash of colour of course! Accessories are a super easy way to achieve a chic look as well as keeping your suitcase full of room for your fashion binge that you and I both know is inevitable.

  1. The buy and toss technique- Now this and love or hate suggestion, leave your favourite boots at home and buy a cheap pair. Buy a pair you only slightly like, it will help you say goodbye at the end of the trip a lot easier.  Wear your subpar boots throughout your trip and toss them before you leave. This is a life saver, my constant concern for travelling is the weight of my suitcase I always seem to scrape by (Touch wood!!!) so when it comes to heading home the first things to go are the cheap shoes.

  1. Packing cubes save lives – Using packing cubes is the most efficient and well-organised way to maintain your suitcase throughout a trip. It also saves room…. for all the new clothes. They retail at approximately $10 AUD so don’t break the bank in any means.

I really hope this helped you as much as it helped me, all my love

Ciao x
